Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV Bagless Upright Vacuum with DuoClean Detect

I bought this vacuum because I was tired of dragging a heavy machine around the house and still feeling like I had to go back over the same spots. The Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV is the kind of vacuum I would suggest to someone who wants one machine to handle floors, rugs, stairs, and the little messy corners that collect more dust than you want to admit. It is especially useful if you have pets, allergies, or just a house where crumbs seem to appear the minute you finish cleaning.
What I like most is that it feels practical instead of fussy. It picks up dirt without me having to make a big production out of it, and the Lift-Away design makes the whole thing easier to live with than a standard upright that only does one job one way. I like being able to pull the canister away for steps or tight spots and then go right back to cleaning the rest of the floor. That sounds simple, but it changes how often I actually use the vacuum. If something is awkward, it gets put off. If it is easy, it gets used.
The suction is strong enough that it does not feel like you are just pushing dirt around. That matters more than people think, because a vacuum can look nice and still leave you going over the same patch three times. This one feels like it has enough power to deal with day-to-day mess without making the job drag on. The brush head also does a good job of adjusting to different surfaces, so I do not have to keep switching my whole routine every time I move from a rug to a hard floor.
The HEPA filter and anti-allergen setup are a big part of why I would recommend it to certain people first. If you are sensitive to dust, or you just notice the air feels stale after cleaning with a cheaper vacuum, this kind of setup is worth paying attention to. I cannot speak for anyone else's home, but I notice the difference when a vacuum throws dust back into the room versus when it keeps things contained. This one does a better job of staying on the contained side of that line.
There is also an odor neutralizer feature here, and I appreciate that it is included without making the vacuum feel gimmicky. Vacuuming a lived-in house can kick up smells that you would rather not notice, especially around rugs and fabric-heavy rooms. Anything that helps with that is welcome. It is one of those details you might not think about until you go back to a vacuum that does not have it.
The one thing I would change is that it still feels like a full-size upright, so it is not the lightest or most compact option. You are getting more flexibility than a plain upright, but it is still a piece of equipment you notice when you carry it or store it. If you have very little closet space, that is worth thinking about before you buy. I would also say there is a little learning curve to getting the most out of the different modes and attachments. Not a bad one, just enough that you will probably spend your first cleaning figuring out what works best in your house.
I keep coming back to the same point with this vacuum. It is for people who want cleaning to feel less like a project. If you have a busy house, pets, mixed flooring, or just a low tolerance for dust and debris hanging around, this is a solid choice. It does the work you want a vacuum to do without making you baby it or think about it too much, and that is usually what makes me keep a cleaning tool around instead of sending it back to the box.
